October 29, 2024Ibrahim Chatta (born 13 October 1970) is a Nigerian movie producer, actor, singer, composer, and director. He is best known for his role in the 2012 movie Aiyekooto.
Chatta has made a visible impact by appearing in many Nollywood films. He landed roles in Atini O’go in 2006, Mafi Wonmi in 2008, Olo in 2008, Mafi Sere in 2009, and Orere Laye in 2009.

Early Life
Ibrahim Chatta was born on 13 October 1970 in Bachita, Edu Local Government, Kwara, Nigeria. He comes from a polygamous family and is one of fourteen children. He is of Tapa descent.
The living legend’s mother is from Modakeke in Osun, Nigeria. She is one of the influences on his acting career. He lost her to diabetes in 2018 after battling the disease for 25 years.
He has had a passion for performing since he was a little child. He saw seasoned actors perform in public, including Adebayo Salami, Duro Ladipo, and Iya Mero.
Chatta would perform roles played by these actors during playtime with his friends. He wore dresses borrowed from their mothers. Growing up, he admired legendary actor Ray Eyiwunmi, aka Baba Ray.
Education
Chatta attended Bachita’s St. Bridges Catholic Basic School, obtained his first school leaving certificate, and enrolled in the Government Secondary School.
After moving to another region, he attended Dende Secondary School, Aggeia.
The Nollywood star did not complete his secondary school education. However, he is doing some courses in adult education related to acting.
Career
Chatta started acting in 1985. He would skip classes to land acting gigs in theatres with his colleagues. He remained consistent, which has gained him notoriety and recognition in the industry.
With many years of acting, Chatta has worked with many legendary actors. He gained notoriety as a co-star in the movie Aiyekooto in 2012, which featured legends such as Muyiwa Ademola, Femi Adebayo, and Jide Kosoko.
Movie legend Ibrahim Chatta owns the Africhatta Film Village and Resort in Oyo, Nigeria, which cost him 1.4 billion naira.
Since the starting his Film Village, it has hosted many actors and producers and has been home to many productions. The television series Eleran was shot in the film village from the first episode to the last.
Music
Chatta produced Olokiki Oru: The Midnight Sensation in 2019. The movie received positive ratings from viewers and is one of his most well-known movies.
Aside from acting, Chatta is also a talented singer with a beautiful voice. He has created over one hundred soundtracks and excerpts of Yoruba songs. He has rubbed shoulders with music legends such as Alhaji Abdulkadir Alayande, aka Ere Asalatu.
Chatta has dropped many hit songs, including My Money, Friday Night, Boom Boom Boom, and Area.
Ambassador
Chatta is an ambassador of the fashion house Hamtex Clothing, the traveling agency Nifawls Global Travel & Tours, and the housing agency Convvy Estates.
Awards
Ibrahim Chatta has won many prestigious awards. In 2012, he bagged the Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON).
At the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards, he won the Best Supporting Actor in a Yoruba Film (Ifa Iwa). At the 2019 City People Movies Awards, he was honored with the Best Actor of the Year (Yoruba).
Chatta was a nominee at the 2020 Nigerian Canadian Celebrities Entertainment Awards.
Personal Life
Ibrahim Chatta married his first wife, Olayinka Solomon, and they welcomed a son, Malik, in 2008. She divorced him, and he accused his ex-wife of not staying at home and not bothering to take care of their child.
In 2007, Chatta and his ex-wife Olayinka met on the set of Tiwonsikanga, a Kunle Afod’s movie, and they started living together in 2008.
After a while, Chatta started dating Salamatu, the daughter of Shaaba Lafiagi, a former governor of Kwara State. On 30 December 2012, they were married in an elaborate traditional and Islamic wedding.
However, their union was short-lived. Salamatu was not too pleased with the living conditions in Ibrahim’s home in Ikotun. She later moved out of their home.
Ibrahim Chatta married Olaide Aishat, aka Lizzy Berry, in 2016.
